I have stated before and will say it again: The disgusting ransacking of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was reprehensible, indefensible and indicative of the sick state of mind of some of our fellow Americans.
With that being said, there's no doubt in my mind that the thugs who breached the seat of American government are not representative of the vast majority of those who voted for Donald Trump. Hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters on hand in Washington, D.C., that day held a peaceful, orderly rally, then left the premises without breaking the law. Millions of Trump supporters wouldn't dream of invading the Capitol; they favor the rule of law and adherence to the Constitution.
Most conservatives who have spoken publicly about the Capitol riot have denounced it unequivocally and called for aggressive prosecution of the perpetrators. But every movement has its bad apples. Don't believe for a second that there weren't a lot of Democrat voters among the thugs who torched buildings, shot fireworks at police officers, assaulted Trump supporters and looted stores last summer.
Contrast Jan. 6 with the 2020 riots ("peaceful protests," to the delusional media) that destroyed many urban neighborhoods from coast to coast. Prominent Democrats, including President and Vice President Elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, either waited to criticize them until they became alarmed by declining poll numbers for Democrats (Biden), or outright endorsed them and advocated paying bail for perpetrators jailed for their offenses (Harris). Democrats were not upset at all when Black Lives Matter and Antifa threatened to storm the White House last May, but were held back by a wall and brave police and soldiers. (I'll bet a fair number of Democrats would have loved seeing Donald Trump's family get harassed and roughed up inside that grand old mansion.)
But let me get to my main point: The ugly, messy scene we saw play out last week was overt wrongdoing; the imagery was toxic, and effectively destroyed not just Donald Trump's chances of running for president again, but his important legacy of achievement.
It's a bitter pill for conservatives, but let us not lose sight of the larger reality. There are less obvious forms of evil that took place under the Obama/Biden administration and will ramp up soon under the Biden/Harris administration. Among them, increasingly barbaric forms of abortion that border on infanticide (who could forget the ghoulish Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New York lawmakers giving a standing ovation two years ago when a law was passed permitting extreme late-term abortion). Why, the governor was in such a celebratory mood, he lit up the pink spire of One World Trade Center. Chilling.
Expect Democrats to go all out in funding Planned Parenthood, resulting in the genocide of hundreds of thousands of additional black babies. (Isn't that just what Margaret Sanger wanted? Not very compassionate, is it?) Spineless Sleepy Joe, who's been pretty much a weathervane politician all his life, used to support the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits using Medicaid dollars for abortions. But a couple years ago, when he noticed such a stance was suicide in today's Democrat Party, he dropped it like a hot potato.
And then there's the Deep State. In recent years, it has become commonplace for Democrats to criminalize political differences (or at least, attempt to do so). Former President Barack Obama, along with Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden, abused the FISA warrant process, colluded with the Russians to concoct a bullshit dossier about Donald Trump, and put the CIA, NSA, FBI and Department of Justice to work trying to frame Trump for alleged Russian collusion. Their media lapdogs carried this B.S. water with an unworldly vengeance.
When citizens are unjustly targeted by a hyper-partisan intelligence community, the financial and emotional consequences can be devastating. One example is retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn, who had to sell his house to pay his legal bills. Others also faced daunting legal bills, destroyed reputations, unjust demonization and difficulty finding new employment. Expect this tyranny to continue under Biden/Harris.
People who are not brazenly partisan Democrats, even if they hate Trump, ought to admit that the evidence is overwhelming that the former heads of these agencies -- John Brennan, James Clapper and James Comey -- lied under oath on numerous occasions during congressional testimony. Just like Hillary Clinton and her compromised classified emails -- a reprobate possibly guilty of violating the Espionage Act. But people who hate Trump yet would acknowledge these reasonable suppositions are almost as rare as palm trees in northern Alaska.
So let's move beyond domestic politics into foreign policy. China represents a far greater threat to our well being than Russia, and it isn't even close. Donald Trump was the only American president ever to stand up to China, but despite his protestations and policy decisions related to trade, military issues, human rights and currency manipulations, even he could barely put a dent in the warped relationship that has us fast becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Middle Kingdom.
And now we're back to the Democrats being in charge. Joe and Hunter Biden have sordid dealings with the Chinese for which both should be in prison. Sen. Dianne Feinstein had a chauffeur who was a Chinese spy for 10 years! U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell was sleeping with a Chinese spy for who knows how long. ("Bang-bang Swalwell's silver hammer went down on Fang-Fang's thang; bang-bang Swalwell's love for commies made sure she was red.")
Now we've learned that former U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer is a registered foreign agent of China. And on top of all that, many companies that give generously to Democrats and are populated by woke leftists, such as Apple and Amazon.com, are so much in bed with the Chinese, they may as well be welded together. Apple, Google, Twitter, Facebook and all the other leftist companies can talk all they want about tolerance, sustainability and trite mottos like "Don't be evil," but as long as they're making billions off of slave labor, cashing in on a relationship with a country guilty of genocide, forced abortions, forced sterilizations, and concentration camps for Uyghur Muslims, these Silicon Valley companies are scum. (Not to mention, they censor conservatives with a Nazi-like efficiency.)
Lastly, let's take a look at Iran and Cuba (only two of the vile hellhole dictatorships that Obama sucked up to, and with whom Biden's administration will resume kissing butt.) Iran tortures, kills and imprisons dissidents, and foments terrorism worldwide. They lust after nuclear weapons. Obama's decision to make nice with them and shovel billions of dollars their way (thus funding worldwide terrorism) in the naive belief that they would ease off on nuclear weapons development was the kind of foreign policy that was so loopy, it must have been conjured up by a creative writing major... Wait a minute....
Back in 2016, a couple years after he naively began rapprochement with Cuba, Barry was photographed yukking it up with vicious dictator Raul Castro at a baseball game in Cuba. No matter how many leftists try to talk up the "universal healthcare" and high literacy rate of Cubans under the late genocidal monster Fidel Castro, Cuba is a wretched, dystopian piece of shit.
I recently finished reading a book by Armando Vallardes, who was a prisoner in Cuba for more than two decades from 1959 to 1981: "Against All Hope: A Memoir of Life in Castro's Gulag."
It was depressing, disturbing, heartbreaking. But also compelling. It was a book I couldn't put down once I picked it up. Let's put it this way: "Rat-infested prisons" doesn't do justice to the depraved, monstrous things that went on in the prisons and forced labor camps Mr. Vallardes endured.
Here's a quick summary of the horrors: bedbugs, lice, rats, a hole in the corner for a toilet, a forced walk through an outdoor sewage pond, endless mosquitos, no air conditioning in a climate of oppressive heat and humidity, frequent beatings by guards (as well as occasional stabbings by bayonets), frequent demeaning strip searches in the middle of the night, scarce and spoiled food, various forms of torture, and punishment cells known as "the drawers," where prisoners were literally lying down for days at a time in tiny horizontal cells where they could not move, get fresh air or see any daylight. (Meanwhile, the larvae and tapeworms had a field day.)
Fidel Castro and the vaunted Che Guevara (who fortunately was executed more than 50 years ago) founded this vicious regime, which Raul presides over to this day. Hundreds of thousands of poor souls suffered terribly in these hellish prisons. Yet somehow, there are fools in the United States who still glorify the communist monsters of Cuba. (I guess that's understandable. Because, after all, we know there are people crazy enough to vote for the likes of Bill De Blasio and Ilhan Omar. In that light, there may be no hope for our nation.)
Like abortion, the cruel, heartless and vicious nature of Cuban communism is an "inconvenient truth" of which the stupid, inane "woke leftists" that populate the Democrat Party, the Beltway swamp and academia are clueless. Or, if they do find out about it, oh, it's just a minor unpleasant thought... Never mind; let me get back to my Pinot Grigio, Instagram post and Netflix binging.
No, sir. Evil doesn't have to be in-your-face video of unruly middle-aged rubes making asses of themselves (and setting themselves up for prison sentences) in the U.S. Capitol. Often, it goes on in silence; in dark, closed places, out of sight and out of mind. And believe me, under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, evil will thrive. Their policies will be like fertilizer to the weeds of cruelty and barbarity.
The leftist riots were because, from the leftist perspective the US is already about overt cruelty and barbarity.
