There's something surreal in watching a bunch of abject failures being quoted as experts in terms of President Trump's speech to the United Nations.
These are the people who not only lied about the Iran deal, they bragged about how successfully they lied.
The decision to launch a war of choice in Libya is also another one of their signature accomplishments, and when a US ambassador was murdered, they lied about that, too.
It's almost as if they think that by saying things, they make them so.
In a sense, they're right: when the Obama administration sent out talking points, that was the end of the discussion. If there "wasn't a smidgen of corruption at the IRS," well, no further investigation was required.
Reality has a way of making its presence felt, however, and if Rocket Man Kim decides to nuke San Diego, it won't be because Donald Trump called him a name.
It will because Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama decided to let him build a nuclear arsenal to do the deed.
Trump was also right to call out Iran as an enemy of the West, which it has been for only the last twenty-five hundred years. Iran is an imperial power and it using the additional resources the Obama Administration bestowed on it to further its goals. Trump was merely telling it like it is.
At some point in the last two decades, our ruling class decided that truth simply didn't matter. It started with Bill Clinton.
Clinton was an amazing liar, a man who could create a phrase so contorted and filled with ambiguity that people could only describe it as "clintonian."
He was the polar opposite of George H.W. Bush who famously broke his "ready my lips" pledge and was destroyed at the ballot box because of it.
When Clinton finally did lie and somehow survived in office, the precedent had been set.
Barack Obama brought this to new heights, however, and unlike Clinton, was never ashamed of being caught.
And so we come to the present state of affairs, where a blunt-talking president who speaks his mind is considered a war-monger while terror-sponsoring dictatorships are considered the innocent victims of his provocations.
The Mad Mullahs of Iran have been preaching holy war since Donald Trump was first learning the basics of real estate. The Obama Administration gave them enhanced means to wage that war and they are doing so with gusto.
But no, let us blame a speech at the UN. That's the ticket.
