So much has been going on in Washington, D.C., and the corrupt news media has been so out-of-control, my head is spinning. Frankly, I wouldn't attempt to write an in-depth, blow-by-blow analysis, because I am afraid there aren't enough hours in the day, and no one would read it, anyway. Besides, there's already a wealth of dissection and conjecture out there for the taking.
Let's focus on just a couple of key aspects: leaks coming from the sieve-like Trump administration, and advice for The Donald and his folks on media relations.
First, President Trump needs to find someone he can trust -- an old hand who has been around; who is level headed, smart-as-a-whip, loyal, prescient, and perhaps most important, not afraid to speak his or her mind. This advisor must not be afraid to give the president constructive criticism or to challenge him. If The Donald's massive ego, narcissism and insecurities make this impossible, we're in for a long four years. But if such a confidante can be found and will stick around for the long haul, Trump can staunch the hemorrhage that's engulfing his young presidency.
As far as the leaks of classified information, I wonder if spies and analysts from the "deep state" -- the amorphous, enormous intelligence community consisting of the CIA, FBI, NSA, Defense Intelligence Agency and other entitities -- are mostly to blame. Or could it be erstwhile establishment Republicans of the Reince Priebus mold who are trying to sabotage this interloper who dared to rain on their parade? Whichever it is, the leaks have already led to the downfall of former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Make no mistake, the saboteurs have other targets in their sights.
Either way, The Donald must throw the book at leakers. We are talking felony transgressions here! This goes WAY beyond simply dirty politics and payback. The Donald needs to make an example of the traitors, whoever they are. If there are Obama-loving hacks in the intelligence community -- and likely there are plenty of them -- who divulged confidential, classified information, Trump must show no mercy in rooting them out and seeking prosecutions.
We are in for the fight of our lives, and it is not an exaggeration to say that our liberty and, indeed, Western civilization, are at stake. The duplicity and treachery of self-serving demagogues betrays a system that is fatally, gravely ill. It is like a cancer festering throughout the cesspool of Washington, D.C.
Has all of this been entertaining, in a train-wreck sort of way? Most certainly. But is it good for our nation and its future? Doubtful. Time is of the essence, Donald. Get moving, before it's too late.
