Enough already with John Lewis!
As far as I am concerned, Lewis is in the same category as Sen. John McCain: He deserves respect for the strength and courage he demonstrated while suffering greatly for a good cause a half century ago. But by god, the man is a bitter, partisan Democrat, through and through. He does not deserve the reverence he's been getting. In other words, his civil rights bona fides don't give him a free pass to engage in childish pettiness. He is a public servant, and thus ought to be scrutinized and criticized just like any of them.
If Lewis or his supporters think he ought to be immune to criticism, they are delusional. You can't be a public figure and spout off with invective and expect to incur no return fire. You can't have it both ways!
Lewis' declaration that he doesn't believe Donald Trump is a legitimate president, and that he'll skip Friday's inauguration, was the Left's latest spiteful slap in the face toward Donald Trump and his supporters. Now more than 50 left-wing Democrat members of Congress are joining Lewis in boycotting the inauguration. Lewis also skipped President George W. Bush's inauguration in 2001 because he was upset about the Supreme Court's ruling in Bush V. Gore.
Lewis has also gone off the deep end on other issues in the past, most notably his lunatic rant against welfare reform in 1996, when Lewis compared Republicans to Nazis and wailed about how mean-spirited welfare reform was. (In fact, welfare reform was sorely needed, and ultimately proved successful.)
"They are coming for our children. They are coming for the poor. They're coming for the sick, the elderly and the disabled," Lewis thundered. Unhinged, just like so many of his fellow leftist extremists.
So, how should The Donald respond? Well, as I've said before, I have no problem with the fact Trump uses Twitter. I know he won't have so much time to fire out Tweets once he takes the oath of office, and that's a good thing. I just think Trump needs to realize he will go insane over the next four years if he doesn't develop a thicker skin.
Demagogues like John Lewis are a dime a dozen in today's Democrat Party. And the hypocrisy is off the charts. If 50 Republicans had skipped Barack Obama's inauguration eight years ago for, say, Obama's friendship with terrorist Bill Ayers or his attendance for many years at the church of racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the press would have crucified them. And what of the Hillary supporters' empty slogan, "Stronger Together"? Come together my ass! These people thrive off of divisiveness.
News Flash to Orange Julius: Demagogues, grand-standers and hypocrites abound. The double standard is a fact of life. Get used to it and just focus on doing good things for America. You'll get more done, AND feel better about yoursef.
