Congratulations to the U.K. for voting to leave the European Union. The Brexit vote caught a lot of the so-called experts and intellectuals off guard (SHOCKING!), just like Donald Trump's dominance over his Republican opponents in the primary election did. In both instances, the elitists have been utterly out of touch with the masses and delusional about how much contempt common folk feel for their policies.
The storyline being parroted by the mainstream media focuses on parallels between the Brexit vote and support for Donald Trump -- the desire for national sovereignty, sealing the borders, putting a lid on immigration, and improving economic conditions. In both cases, people are fed up with clueless, arrogant elitists who think they know what's best for the "great unwashed" masses.
But another parallel may also be taking shape: One that resembles that incredible period of the late 1980s-early 1990s when the Soviet Union collapsed, the Berlin Wall was torn down and former Soviet satellite states declared their independence and pursued democracy. Scotland has indicated it likely will undertake another independence referendum to possibly break away from England. Italy, Czechoslovakia, Germany and other European nations also have movements in the works to break away from the European Union. There could be a domino effect as there was in Eastern Europe a quarter century ago.
Millions of Europeans are appalled at the way immigrants and refugees are rapidly changing the character of their nations, often not assimilating, and in some cases posing a menacing threat (see the hideous Muslim slums of Paris). And Europeans in the more prosperous, wealthy nations such as England and Germany deeply resent having to contribute more to the EU than they get out of it. They are, in effect, subsidizing the sloth of countries like Greece and Italy, with their high unemployment and out-of-control entitlements. (Sound familiar? That dynamic plays out here in the United States among the "makers and the takers.")
Meanwhile, elitists like President Barack Obama continue to mouth inane platitudes about the "international community" and the "global community." The stupidity and folly of their beliefs is staggering, yet their smug, know-it-all arrogance will keep them delusional -- count on it.
Obama traveled to England earlier this week to urge Britons to remain in the EU. Most likely, his pompous presence emboldened those in favor of separating, firing them up to "get out the vote" in favor of exiting the EU. Perhaps if he had kept his arrogant ass home, the "Remain" vote would have triumphed. But Obama trying to tame his ego and arrogance is like a 14-year-old-boy trying to tame his hormones and testosterone. Ain't gonna happen.
It is comical hearing mainstream media reporters and anchors, as well as politicians and think tank pundits, declaring they are "stunned" at the results in England. What's really stunning is the breathtaking cluelessness of the globalists and their destructive, bureaucratic agenda.
