If you follow the news, you have probably heard of so-called "sanctuary cities," which provide safe harbor for illegal aliens, sheltering them from prosecution and possible deportation.
Well lberals, two can play this game. Now we find that in light of the Obama administration's overreach on gun control, some county sheriffs will refuse to cooperate with gun control measures they believe to be unconstitutional.
They are not alone, according to this Fox News article, which says at least six states are considering taking legislative action against the government.
I have been waiting for tens of millions of people to really get up in arms (OOPS! No pun intended) against this arrogant and contemptuous administration. Overreach on gun control may well be the impetus we need to push back hard and draw a firm line in the sand.
It seems that over the past four years, way too many Americans have accepted unending trillion dollar deficits, anemic growth, 8 percent unemployment, nearly 50 million on food stamps and disingenuous posturing on entitlement reform as "the new normal." Perhaps cynicism has won and many have thrown in the towel (or thought they had, until the gun control frenzy began).
Even the odious and wrongheaded leviathan of Obamacare hasn't stirred this much outrage. But a push for a comprehensive immigration reform bill just might do the same. Methinks another "amnesty bill" such as what George Bush attempted to ramrod through in 2007 will further stoke the flames of outrage.
Let the battle be joined. It's going to be a LONG four years, and those of us who want to fight for the nation of limited government the Founders intended, who are disgusted by the smug arrogance and condescension of the O-Man and his minions, need to be united and determined.
Let's put it this way: When it comes to a rapidly expanding, intrusive and encroaching government that stretches its tentacles everywhere, it's a hell of a lot more difficult winning back freedoms you've lost, than protecting the freedom you have.
