Or how about "Climate Change You Can Believe In?"
No, I am not referring to the earth's surface temperatures, a melting polar ice cap, stranded polar bears or wild weather patterns. It's the changed political climate I'll address, and the stunned disbelief of Obama supporters who see their god humbled by the realities of his limitations and confronted with the harsh fact that Keynesian economic policies don't work.
In the vast majority of cases, when you give liberals and Democrats all they want, they'll make a hash of things. (Just look at Detroit.) During the first two years of Obama's administration, Democrats controlled Congress. They got their stimulus program; they got their wonderful healthcare panacea; they shoveled hundreds of billions of dollars to Wall Street banks, auto companies, solar energy firms... Look where it's led.
The unemployment rate actually rose the other day, from 8.1 percent in May to 8.2 percent. But who's kidding whom? Most thinking people acknowledge that the true unemployment rate is much higher because so many discouraged workers have quit looking for work, which reduces the size of the labor force (as defined by government economists). Too, millions are underemployed, either working well below their skill level or working part-time or on a freelance/contract basis when they would prefer permanent, full-time employment.
While economists projected 158K new jobs would be created during the month of May, in fact only about 69K were created. After Friday's early morning release of the disappointing (to Obama's true believers) results, the stock market promptly tanked. Many of us, who knew all along Obama was clueless about sound economic poiicy, were not surprised at all that the latest jobs report was abysmal. Friday's news was just an affirmation, sort of like when you elected not to watch your favorite football team, which has been suffering through a miserable season, play an away game against one of the best teams in the league. Oh, it was a humiliating beatdown? O.K., so what else is new? In other words, you don't have to be prescient...
The Obama campaign is now in the "cornered/wounded animal" stage. They will lash out at Mitt Romney in the months to come, because it's all they can do. They have spent the last few months desperately grasping at any straws they could find. From the "war on women," to Romney's Mormonism, to his wealth, to his Bain Capital career, the Obama campaign has been spinning like a whirling dervish, to little avail.
Those of us who have been angered and disgusted by the utter arrogance of Obama and his adminisration; their contempt for the American people; and the off-the-charts narcissism and egotism of the Celebrity-in-Chief, are savoring this train wreck like an Olive Garden tiramasu. We don't want it to end!
From the 2008 persona — Obama walks on water and makes people faint at his rallies — to a desperate, flailing candidate who announced his re-election campaign in a half-empty arena at Ohio State University, reality really, truly bites.
Perhaps there is no more telling indicator that you're toast than when someone who has been diligently carrying your water for years (New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd), writes a scathing assessment of your current condition.
Can we get past this disastrous mistake? YES WE CAN!!!
You lost me at "Olive Garden tiramasu"...
