Leftists are volatile, puerile, and hostile; on that we agree.
They also are quite obsessive. Once they get an idea in their head, it's like the heartbeat. Or breathing. Or the wake-sleep cycle. It's a part of who they are and what they do, and there's no escaping it. Doesn't matter if it's utter B.S. If it's what they believe, it's the absolute truth, and anyone who disagrees is a moron, idiot, simpleton, and neanderthal who must be mercilessly demonized.
Consider the inane bumper sticker cliche, "BUSH LIED, TROOPS DIED," which was popular a few years ago when things were not going well in Iraq. Somehow, some way, leftist Democrats are 100 percent certain that "W" lied about Saddam Hussein having weapons of mass destruction, and deceived the American people into war with Iraq.
Never mind that intelligence agencies all over the world, including the CIA, American military intelligence, the British, French, Russians, Germans, and Israelis ALL thought Saddam had WMD in his possession in early 2003. Forget about the fact that Saddam used chemical weapons against the Kurds and Iranians in the late 1980s.
And disregard the fact that 29 Democrat senators, and 82 Democrat representatives, voted in favor of the Iraq resolution in 2002. Additionally, consider it immaterial that Saddam harbored and sheltered terrorists such as the vile Abu Nidal, sent money to families of suicide bombers, had his troops fire on U.S. and British planes in the No Fly Zone, and blatantly violated 16 United Nations resolutions. BUSH LIED!!! AND TROOPS DIED!!! The enlightened "progressives" say so, SO IT MUST BE SO!!! MICHAEL MOORE SAYS SO!!! What more proof do you need?????
Well, screw that. These folks are so full of themselves, they're a lost cause.
This moronic and infantile mindset got me to thinking: Is it possible the left-wingers will accuse corporate America of conspiring to make Barack Obama a one-term president? Will they be full of rage that leftist Keynesian economics, sucking up to unions and monstrous regulatory schemes like Obamacare have not only failed to improve the economy, but have made things worse? Will that rage cause the lefties to reflexively search for a scapegoat, and quickly point the finger at corporate America? Do bears poop in the woods?
Here's my reasoning. It has been apparent that leftists like to turn corporate targets into pinatas (e.g., Wal-Mart and the Koch Brothers). If they get it in their minds that they are morally superior to a corporate entity, they will be consumed by rage toward that corporation or those individuals. They will make it a priority to mount a crusade against their "enemy."
In recent months, some mainsteam news reporters have challenged corporate CEOs with the question: Why, if you have so much cash on hand, are you so reluctant to hire? Or perhaps, WHY are you laying off and outsourcing when you are flush with cash? The American unemployment rate is 9 percent! Can't you see we're hurting and need you to loosen up the purse strings?
This speaks to a general ignorance of economics and business principles among reporters and news anchors. (SHOCKING!). They don't understand that the vast majority of corporations and entrepreneurs are in business to make a profit, not be be altruists.
President Obama and his minions have embarked on a destructive course of anti-business regulations and policies. The EPA's heavy-handed decision to treat CO2 as a dangerous greenhouse gas is one example. Obamacare's smothering mandates on business, and the National Labor Relations Board's decision to lord it over corporations (case in point: Boeing) that want to create jobs in right-to-work states, are a few examples.
These wrongheaded policies, in conjunction with atrocious deficits and a failure to promote free trade, have quickly turned the U.S. economy into a basket case. An abysmal housing market, the threat of higher tax rates and prolonged high unemployment make many corporate CEOs highly pessimistic. Uncle Sam has massive unsustainable entitlements and unfunded liabilities in the $60-$70 trillion range. In other words, a fiscal tsunami isn't far away. But what does the so-called cerebral Obama do? Demagogue the issue like a cheap hack.
America deserves better, but we probably won't get it from the Celebrity-in-Chief.
Meanwhile, the loony left, the same folks who froth at the mouth about Karl Rove, Sarah Palin, and the Koch brothers, are likely to start raging against what they believe to be a corporate conspiracy to avoid hiring more people, which would reduce unemployment, solely for the purpose of harming President Obama and his re-election chances. This is how their simple and pathetic minds work. This is the poison that will infect the 2012 elections.
The fun has only just begun.
