But will he back it up?

So Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has just proclaimed the war in Iraq lost. (via Michelle Malkin).

The real question is whether Reid can persuade his fellow defeatists to follow him over the cliff.  Will they cut off funds and bring about true defeat, or merely pass "non-binding" language in an attempt to placate the far left?

We actually welcome this development, because it puts the Democrats' views out in the open.  Let 2008 be a referendum on victory vs defeat.  Let the American people decide who should lead them in wartime - and who will protect them from additional terrorist attacks.

We will also be treated to the spectacle of elected officials arguing with service members as to whether they are a beaten military.
