A savior, not a conqueror
The Posse wishes a happy Easter to all our readers.
Due to a hectic schedule and some persistent technical glitches, we've been unable to post for a while. Hopefully we'll take care of some of that backlog.
The other day, one of the Junior Posse Members expressed curiosity about Islam, in particular what Muslims had to say about Easter. The short answer: not much.
The movie The Thirteenth Warrior ostensibly shows how a Muslim would have related to the still-pagan Norsemen, but it contains one very important cultural inaccuracy: early on, Antonio Bandaras' character addresses Allah as "Father."
While it rings true to Christian ears, in Islam, God is not the Father, but the Master. Islam is about submission to the Almighty.
That is why Muslims deny the Crucifixion. God would never sacrifice His own son for mere humanity. Indeed, He would never allow his Prophets to be insulted, which is my Mohammed went from persecuted to conqueror.
This Easter, the Posse is grateful for the Good News that the Almighty is a Father to us children, and that He so loved the world that he offered up His only son.
PS: Michelle Malkin has a nice roundup of Easter-themed posts.
